This research has shown that exercise does have an effect on MDSCs and T cells in tumor-bearing mice. Though the results were opposite to the predicted hypothesis and may have also been influenced by experimental error, there is now some amount of biological and direct evidence that correlates exercise and cancer. With more time there is potential to find more accurate biological evidence, which promotes exercise for individuals with cancer. This research is significant and should be continued as it could improve quality of life by decreasing symptoms of cancer and also strengthening the immune system for patients with cancer, through a simple and costless method.
As mentioned before the benefits provided by physical activity are completely free. If exercise can be proven with direct and biological evidence to improve quality of life for cancer patients the implications could be enormous as they would provide a cost effective solution to alleviate some of the symptoms of cancer without the use of extra expensive medicine or drugs, for this reason it is necessary to continue this research. Due to the experimental error that occurred and altered the data collected, this experiment is being conducted again, however due to the 4 week time period that is allotted for the mice, the results of the second round will be collected and analyzed after the end of the FSI program.
